Esteban Ganem is a percussionist from Houston, Texas with a passion for playing new music. He has performed as a soloist with the Bard Conservatory Orchestra in Tan Dun’s percussion concerto The Tears of Nature, and most recently has toured in China with Tan Dun in Hong Kong, Changsha, Qingdao and Shanghai as a member of the percussion ensemble. Esteban is also the percussionist and co-founder of Woven Duo with pianist Viktória Sarkadi, championing and composing new works for the instrumentation. He has premiered works by Tan Dun, Annika Socolofsky, Andrea Mazzariello, and has also collaborated with Sō Percussion, Tan Dun, members of Yarn/Wire, Da Capo Chamber Players, Changsha Symphony Orchestra, Lei Jia, Michael Burritt, Christopher Cerrone, Shodekeh Talifero, and Amy Petrongelli. He has also performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Hong Kong Cultural Center and the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, to name a few. Esteban graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. While at Baylor, Esteban studied with Todd Meehan, Chris Sies, and Edward Taylor, and was a member of the award-winning Baylor Percussion Group. He received a Master’s Degree at the Bard College Conservatory of Music in the Graduate Instrumental Arts Program with teachers Jason Treuting, Eric Cha-Beach, and Jason Haaheim.
Esteban was previously on the percussion staff at Dickinson High School in Dickinson, TX, a regular participant in the UIL 6A State Marching Contest, and also taught privately in the area. He also previously taught in the Robinson Independent School District in Robinson, TX. He currently gives classes at Washtenaw International High School and Middle Academy in addition to being on the staff at the Dearborn School of Music.
